Is Your Fat Burning Exercise Routine Keeping You Fat And Unhealthy?

By Rob Poulos, Fat Loss & Fitness Expert & Creator of 'Fat Burning Furnace'

The majority of exercisers today still rely on long duration moderate paced aerobic exercise as their primary routine to burn fat fast. But recent studies have shown that this is a big, I mean big mistake. In fact, you could say that the whole aerobics explosion of a few decades past was one of the biggest mistakes in the health and fitness industry. Why?

There are several reasons, but I’ll focus on the two main issues here. When you exercise at a moderate pace for extended periods of time (as in the typically recommended percent of your target heart rate), your body is burning fat during the exercise. While this may sound good, it’s actually bad news.

This sends a signal to your body to keep a certain amount of stored fat available for your next workout. You’re essentially telling it that it needs fat available to burn, ‘because you’ll be doing this exercise again. So while we may be burning some calories during this exercise, after the exercise is over, our body begins storing up some fat for the next workout. Obviously not what we’re looking for in terms of maximum ability to burn fat fast.

The other big concern with moderately paced aerobic exercise performed several times per week is that it trains your body (heart, lungs, muscles, etc.) to become efficient. Again, this may sound good, but what is actually happening is bad for long term health. You are working only within your existing aerobic limits, without improving your aerobic capacity.

This is important because your aerobic capacity is what determines how your body responds in times of physical, emotional, and mental stress. If you reduce your capacity for work, as you do in this type of exercise, you’re reducing your long term health, no to mention a poor chance of burning fat.

The good news is, you can reverse these effects by instead focusing your workouts on high intensity resistance training, with workouts that last 15-20 minutes on average, and can only be performed 2-3 times per week.

These workouts will burn carbohydrates instead of fat during the workout, and will cause your body to use its fat stores to replenish the burned carbs over the next 24 hours, after the workout is done! This type of work will also increase your reserve capacity and thus your ability to handle all types of stress, leading to lasting health and fitness...and 24/7 fat burning. Nice!

But the exercise must be performed correctly to be effective, and that means using sufficient intensity, and keeping your rest periods between exercises and sets down to 60 seconds or less.

The students of my Fat Burning Furnace method know this, and are reaping the benefits. When you think about how little time you have to spend compared to the typically recommended methods to get these fat burning and health creating results, it’s almost magical.

Million Dollar Ideas

By Alex Ziv

I received an important question via the email that its answer can help a lot of people, which is why I decided to reply to it through the following article:

The question: "Hi, I have a question connected to The Secret, I have an idea which can yield plenty of money but the closest people to me don't think so even though my gut feeling feels positive... what do you say, should I go for it at any cost or should I listen to others that feel that I am better off not to?..."

Below are a few explanations that may help you reach a solution:

The first piece of advice that I shall use successfully comes from John Assaraf

John Assaraf decides if to pursue a project or an idea by asking the following question:

Am I willing to trade my life (my time) for this idea?

In other words, ideas are the cheapest things in the "thinking market" each one of us has plenty of ideas, sometimes we raise ideas ourselves and sometimes our "Aerial" receives ideas because we are on the right wavelength to receive them.

Should we jump up and implement every idea that comes to mind? The answer is NO!

Even if it is a million dollar idea? Even then I will say with bravery and sincerity - NO!

Two weeks ago I came up with an idea from the category which I call "million dollar ideas", immediately I felt my blood pressure rise...The adrenalin started to flow through my body and I had an urge to start making things happen.

I let my wife into my idea and she agreed that this is a very strong idea.

Moments before I called people abroad (because the idea is connected with abroad) and I got them excited about the idea, I stopped myself and asked John Assarafs "Billion dollar question":

Am I prepared to change my life for this idea?

I started to imagine myself already involved in it, implementing the idea...

I asked myself...do I fancy investing my time, my awareness, leave my family for a period of time (this idea requires a long period away from home) to meet on a daily basis with certain people in a certain environment, is this something which I will enjoy whilst I am doing it or will I have to wait with baited breath for the financial reward?

Is the journey worth the target?

The answer categorically was NO!

It is not worth any amount of money to me, if I don't do something that I love and that I am willing to spend my time being involved in doing.

Today after two weeks - I am wholeheartedly complete and happy with my decision... and the urge that was in me doesn't even tickle my motivation button.

What would have happened had I have taken a ride on my moment of enthusiasm when the idea had arisen and called the people involved?

I would have "ignited" them and they would have ignited a whole chain of people, of course this would have interrupted and disturbed whatever they were doing at the time in their life, because this commands time, planning and execution... a whole chain of reason and result would have been caused and from my knowledge of myself, one day I would have woken up in the morning and said to myself "hey... am I enjoying this? Is this clever? Is this worth my sacrifice? And then because this isn't really it - I would have cut and run leaving all the damaged people that I "ignited" with the idea but never seeing it through to the end.

I am not saying these things out of a theory; I have experienced this and have learnt much from this.

When an idea is born and it is hot in your "blood" you must calm down a bit and ask yourself the correct questions concerning the implications of the idea, because when the idea is hot, it is hot because you have seen through the eyes of your soul a sweet - the reward that awaits you, however you have categorically not thought about what this requires from you, what changes and what dedication. And is it worth you changing your life (time) in doing this.

At my meeting with John Assaraf I suggested to him an idea of producing a television programme which he will star in that in my opinion would capture the world and will give much value to people.

John smiled... and told me that Ellen Degeneras (a comedienne and big American TV star) suggested to him his own talk show which he would host twice a week, he would need to relocate with his family to Chicago etc...

So, which "human ego" especially one which is also a well known public figure would not agree to be the next "Dr Phil"?

Your own TV show that will be shown all across the USA...

John Assaraf smiled at Ellen exactly in the same way he smiled at me and told us:

Thank you very much; this is not something that I am willing to trade with my life...

When he said this to me - a certain door in my conscious opened...It is a huge power when you are able to say no to the temptations of money and ego, if they don't level out with your inner wishes and with the personal visions of the way you choose to live and enjoy your life.

So I take my hat off to him and thank him for this awakening that helped me with great success to make decisions.

It brings you back to your vision of yourself and how you choose to live and enjoy your life.

When I introduced myself to the fact that I create my own reality a number of years ago - I decided to achieve everything and big time - even if it isn't what my heart and soul really wants, It is why I experienced a number of lessons that taught me that even though I create my own reality and know how to do this,

More important than the achievement is to be complete with yourself and with what you are doing.

The target is only a milestone the journey itself is life.

This is why the journey is more important than the destination.

Tony Robbins once said something that changed my perception:

He said that many people place themselves astronomical targets when in fact they don't perform the simple task that will prevent from them a lot of pain in the future, for example:

Let's say that you discovered The Secret and you give yourself a target of making 200 million dollars within the next 5 years.

Everything is possible right? Right.

Are there people that make 200 million in a year? Ask Madonna who made this amount from her last tour and there is no shortage of people that make this amount in less than 5 years.

But when you throw and determine such a large amount - you are making a mistake from the start.

Why?

If you will do a calculation of what your real needs are and what your dreams are you will discover that 1 to 5 percent of this amount will be more than enough for you.

Make a list of all the things that you want to achieve and check their value:

What house do you want? What car? How much money do you require, enough in order to satisfy your needs?

When you perform this very quick calculation you will discover that from 200 million you can easily aim for 20 million dollars or even 2 million dollars or even less... it all depends on - what you are aiming for.

What do you really want to achieve? How long do you want to achieve it in? What is the real estimated amount that you need in order to make all your dreams come true?

Past and present teachers of The Secret tell us again and again:

In the universe there is nothing for nothing.

You don't have to know how you will reach this amount, but be assured that you will need to forfeit and will be required to give something in order to receive the required amount. This is the law of the reason and the outcome - giving and receiving.

When the amount is authentic towards you and your ambitions - so is the value that you will give towards the amount.

When you are more specific about the amount you require:

It will become easier for you to achieve it (the realistic amount will be much lower than what you thought)

You will know exactly why you need the money - the universe works and reacts exactly to specific orders

You will stay focused and motivated because you will know that money on its own is not the aim but the things that you want to exchange the money with, once it is in your possession.

The biggest problem people have is that they do not know what exactly they want.

And when you don't know exactly what you want - you make silly mistakes which cause a mess.

John Assaraf and people like him have a precise vision - it is very difficult to move them from the targets that they have set themselves - even when it is very tempting.

Lets return to the question that I was asked: "what do you say, should I go for it at any price or maybe I am better off to listen to people that think its not worth it?"

The answer:

Only you can reply to this question.

Do you know what you want?

What is certain is that the money itself is not your target - but the things in which you will exchange the money for?

Are you willing to exchange your life (time) for this idea?

Imagine yourself working with this in your day to day life...how do you feel about this?

If the answer is no, then be sure that you have the ability to find another idea that will not only produce your desired financial reward but you will also enjoy it whilst doing - we live in a universe where everything is possible.

You are free to choose whatever you desire and are also able to achieve it - but you are not free from the consequences of your decisions.

Ensure that you are willing to accept the consequences and that they are on the same level with your vision as to how you wish to live your life.

Everything begins with choice - choice is everything!

As for the voices and opinions of others? What others?

The world is a mirror and sometimes the voices that others speak are your fears in disguise or your inner truth that is trying to signal to you to "examine" your steps carefully.

The moment that something is in harmony with your vision and inner truth - the voices and opinions of others silence as if by the wave of a magic wand...these voices are the echoes of your own current dilemmas.

Sit with yourself and level your ideas with your emotions.

Imagine yourself involved in it - if it feels great - do it

If not?

There is untold ways and ideas for you at any given time if you are willing to open up to them...

The idea is a thought that must be on par with your emotions and then the action is complete.

Thought - emotion - action.

And the voices of others - they silence...

Are You Neglecting to Manage Your Stress

By Sandra Thebaud

All of us are under stress to some degree. If you do not engage in purposeful stress management activities, ask yourself the following questions:

Why should I manage my stress?
Is stress management really important to me?
What would I rather be doing instead of managing my stress?
Is this alternative activity more important to me that managing my stress?
Can I schedule my life so that I can manage my stress and participate in the alternative activity?
If I do not want to manage my stress now, exactly what would it take to make stress management a priority?
What would I have to give up if I succeeded in lowering my stress level?
What (or who) would I have to confront if I succeeded in lowering my stress level?

When you slack off on purposeful stress management, such as exercising, it is often illuminating to examine the reasons you tell yourself this is happening. Typical reasons are:

I am too busy
I am too tired
Missing once will not hurt
Someone needs my help
This is not working
This is boring
I feel relaxed and unstressed today, so I do not need to exercise

These excuses are seductive because they are partially true. That is, you may really feel very busy or tired, somebody may want your help, and missing one session probably will not hurt. That part that is not true is the implication that because you are busy or tired or someone needs your help, you can not focus on stress management. A more truthful statement would be

I am tired; I could exercise, but I choose not to, I could exercise, but I choose to help someone instead

The important point here is that you take responsibility for your decision to choose one activity over another, rather than pretend that you are the passive victim of circumstances such as your fatigue, someone's demands, or other priorities that keep you busy. You may find yourself repeatedly using the same reason or similar reasons for not exercising. A common theme with many variations is that I am indispensable. Things will not get done without me and may even fall apart.

For example, one very bright high-powered executive could rarely find time to exercise because her work was never done. She believed that she could not take time out for herself or the pile of work would grow rapidly into an unassailable mountain. After years of doing continuous overtime with no time set aside to relax, she was run down, depressed, anxious, having migraines and lower back pain, and getting her work done at a fraction of her previous rate. Her perfectionistic belief that she had to do all of her work before she had a right to relax had caused a gradual depletion of her energy. The result was inevitable physical and emotional signs of stress.

The excuses you give yourself for not practicing stress management are likely to be the same ones that you have used for years to keep yourself locked into a stressful situation. These excuses are based on faulty premises. For example, the executive mentioned above believed erroneously that she had no right to relax until all her work was done. But because the work of an executive is never done, she could never relax.

Furthermore, she had overlooked her innate right to relax and replenish her vital store of energy. This woman had defined her priorities as being executive-first, me-second, without taking into account the importance of relaxation and getting away from stressful activities for maintaining good mental health and physical health. This is a self-destructive pattern that, fortunately, can be averted through regular stress management.

The Top Ten Ways to Stay Focused on Your Objectives

By LeeDavidhcz

As a speaker in the area of goal setting and achievement I am often asked my opinion on what I believe are the keys to reaching one’s goal and objectives. While the answer to this question alone can take up a half-day seminar, allow me to spend the next few paragraphs covering the top ten.

However, before I get started, please realize the one thing that above all launches you towards your goals faster than all the top ten lists you will ever hear or read is consistency. All of your goals, dreams and aspirations are going to require not only effort but also a sustained effort. The best analogy I can give you is pushing a car. Most of you during the course of your life may have had to push a car that ran out of gas or broke down. You strained your muscles to get that car in motion. The sweat poured from your bow and finally the wheels began to turn. Once the 1200 pound car was in motion, the pushing became a bit easier. All you had to do is continue to put forth a little effort and you’d be at the gas station shortly. (Barring any hills of course). But if you would at any time stop pushing, even for a moment, you would have to put forth EXTRA effort again to get those wheels rolling.

Achieving your goals is much like pushing a car; you cannot work hard for a day or two and then stop. Pick up your goal again later and work for a day or two and then stop again. You need to put for the consistent effort that will get those wheels rolling. Then once you have that 1200-pound monster rolling forward at a good speed all you need to do is keep putting forth a little consistent effort. With this type of consistency you will reach your goals far faster than with the start and stop method so many people practice these days.

Here are ten of the ways you can focus that consistent effort to get even more out of the effort you put forth. I have found these ‘techniques’ very useful and honestly believe that if you put them to work for you that you too will reap their rewards.

1. Write your primary goals down. There is something that happens when you put pen to paper and write out your goals. It seems to activate your mind and your goals become ‘written’ into your sub-conscious, making your more aware of situations, people and events that will bring you to your goals faster.

2. Re-write your top tens goals daily. Each day re-write your top ten goals without looking at your previous lists. This process accomplishes two things.

a. Deeply imbeds your high priority goal into your sub-conscious.

b. Weeds out those goals that are really important TODAY. Those goals that are not truly high on your long-term priority list will not consistently remain in your top ten lists. This will help you focus on what is truly important rather than those whims all fall victim to.

3. Narrow your focus – by focusing on only a few goals at a time. Pick those goals that are truly yours and your hearts deepest desire. Then focus all your efforts like a laser beam upon their completion. Take the top ten and zero in on those three to five goals that mean the most to you. The three to five goals that you know you have the deepest desire to achieve.

4. Develop an action plan. Once you have determined what you want to accomplish you must now begin to lay out how you will go about accomplishing it. What skills do you need to develop? What contacts do you need to make? What steps do you need to take to get your from where you are today to where you are trying to get? Be aware that your plans may change as you go along gaining new insights and information. But you need to have a plan in order to know what comes next. The knowledge of what your going to do next will do wonders to keep you focused.

5. Envision your goal already achieved. The great achievers of yesterday and today all had one key-ability – the ability to see their goal as already accomplished. Be detailed in your vision of your goal; feel the pride of its accomplishment. What will your friends and associates say once you have reached your goal? The more detail and emotion you can insert into the vision of your accomplishment the more that vision will drive you towards its accomplishment.

6. Empower yourself with affirmations. When take the time daily to write down your top ten goals, write them as present tense personal affirmations. I.e. “I weigh 160 pounds,” rather than “I want to lose weight.” Or “I earn $10,000 a month,” rather than writing “I want to earn more money.” Then read these goals aloud. Stand tall; hold your shoulders straight and your head high. Then in a firm positive voice read your goals aloud. This will ignite the passions and pride within you. The passion to achieve your goal and the pride of what it will feel like to reach it.

7. Take daily action, no matter how small. Do not let a day go by that you do not take some sort of step towards your goal. This is where your consistency will pay big. Do not let the 1200-pound car stop rolling or your will have to push even harder just to get it moving again. Break your large goals down into smaller tasks and work one those tasks daily until complete.

8. Track your progress. You cannot effectively see that which you do not track, and you cannot change that which you cannot see. Create ways to see how far you are towards reaching your goal. Create charts and timelines so that you will see when you are falling behind or pulling ahead – make adjustments to your plans as necessary. A program like Microsoft Project is great for this, but use anything that will motivate you by allowing you to see where are along your road to success.

9. Celebrate Milestones. Another great reason to track your progress is so that you can set and celebrate your milestones. All large goals are made-up of smaller goals and milestones that you need to recognize and pat yourself on the back once you complete them. As you reach each of the milestones, applaud yourself. Pause to feel the accomplishment. As you savor this triumph you will believe more strongly that you will in fact reach your goal.

10. Network and surround yourself with a group of like-minded people. Surround yourself with those that will not only encourage your accomplishments but challenge you towards them as well. None of us will accomplish any big goal alone. You are going to need assistance from others.

Any time that I have put all ten of these techniques to work for me at the same time – I have reached my goal far faster than I could have imagined. Any one of these alone are a way to reach your goal faster but I would highly encourage you to put all ten of these steps in action today. If you do I know I will be hearing about your success in the very near future.
