The Top Five Warning Signs That You Are Style Challenged

By Leslie C Smith

Just like fashion trends, fashion rules come and go. Are you current and style savvy or are you on the dangerous road of the fashionably challenged? Take this short test and see.

1. The colors in your outfit must match.

Today it is not about matching colors, it is about coordinating colors. Just because you are wearing a black dress doesn't mean you must wear black shoes too. Try wearing a coordinating color shoe like red to add interest to your outfit.

2. Your shoes and purse must match

I can remember my mother saying, "Never buy a handbag unless you have shoes to match." It's true that was the rule of yesteryear, but today's woman knows your purse doesn't have to match your shoes. Instead, consider how the bag is consistent with the style of the outfit and shoes. For example, a tote bag would not go well with a dressy evening shoe. Other things to consider are how the bag might coordinate with your outfit or make it more interesting.

3. You always wear pantyhose

Pantyhose used to be the standard for all women. No one would be caught dead showing a bare leg under their favorite dress or suit. Today, however, more and more women are abandoning pantyhose for the comfort of bare leg dressing. While many businesses are allowing women to forgo pantyhose in the office, it is always good to check your employer's dress code. Also, if you are going to have a bare leg, make sure you shave. Few people want to see a hairy leg below your hemline.

4. You always wear a slip

Maybe we are more risky today, or we are just into comfort. Whatever the reason, wearing a slip underneath your dress is not fashion forward. Slips hid your legs and underwear from view, when you were wearing a thin or see-through dress. Instead of a slip, try a dark colored panty or a thong.

5. You feel black is always flattering

Generally speaking, black does tend to make you look slimmer but, it is not always flattering. If you have a milky complexion, black can make you look washed-out. Also, a red jacket that is fitted will always trump an oversized, ill-fitting black jacket in the style department.

Buxton Bag

By Sarah Page

Women spend a lot of time and money trying to find an appropriate handbag for all occasions. However, there is one handbag that can be of use for any situation. That handbag is the Buxton Over the Shoulder Bag.

I can conserve much time and annoyance with regards to positioning my possessions into my bag with the use of the Buxton Over the Shoulder Handbag. I despise the fact that I essentially must complete a puzzle in order to withdraw a particular item from my bag. It is required of me to extract all of my items, and then reposition them into my bag, which is an unnecessary waste of time.

I am able to regain this lost time using the Buxton Organizer Bag. It permits me to easily access and accumulate my plethora of items. Containing precise pockets intended for items such as cell phones, cards, objects which must be secured, along with 6 additional pockets on the interior, the Buxton Handbag is easily able to maintain organization within its contents.

Glance at the bag that you currently use. How much can you actually fit in your handbag? Can you reach that credit card that is dwelling within the depths of your bag? What about that phone number you recently acquired yesterday? How often to you have to dump everything out to reach your keys?

One of my friends, Jasmine, was flabbergasted when I showed her my Buxton Shoulder Handbag. I showed her how many items that I kept in it and how easily I could retrieve them. She also liked how my Black Buxton Bag looked. I even showed her how the expandable zipper allowed me to put my water bottle in there with ease.

One thing about most cost-efficient handbags is the fact that they are heinous. However, the Buxton Organizer Bag is just the opposite. With Black, Tan, or Red genuine Buxton leather, you can rest assured that your handbag is quality and looks great. There is finally a handbag with both looks and functionality.

At first, I was a little skeptical - after all, a lot of infomercials are scams. However, out of some whim, I decided to purchase a Buxton Organizer Bag for myself. Once I tried it out, I was hooked. I am very content with the decision that I made to purchase this bag, and I promise you that you will be too.

Many people are already crazing over the Buxton Shoulder Bag and for great reasons. The Handbag looks awesome, serves the seemingly lost purpose of any handbag - to store your items. It is cost efficient and looks great. Check out the Buxton Organizer Bag for yourself.

Leading Ladies of Fashion

By Skyler Nelson

One such leading lady is Diane von Furstenberg (DVF), named President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2006, and well-known fashion designer. DVF began her legacy in 1970 with a thirty thousand dollar investment, and by 1973 was known for her revolutionary design of the "wrap dress," which is on display in the Costume Institute section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After several decades of successful businesses, to include a cosmetic line, publishing house, design and marketing studio and home-shopping venture - DVF has created a line of women's high-end apparel, and was also The International Center in New York's Award of Excellence recipient. With such a long and distinguished career DVF is truly a leading lady in the fashion industry.

Wielding the command to make or break designers is an awesome responsibility in the fashion industry, and there are those who are of the opinion that the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, has just such powers. Despite Vogue's status as the top publication in prestige and circulation among fashion magazines, Wintour has chosen to use her powers for the positive and has brought the magazine to a broader audience by giving runway tips and mentoring struggling designers. "I have always believed that it is important to understand Vogue's mission in broad and socially responsible terms," says Wintour, who has spearheaded several functions creating jobs and benefiting charities. To wield such power for the benefit of others is why she has been chosen as one of our leading ladies.

Another leading lady of fashion magazines is Linda Wells, Editor-in-Chief of Allure. While most fashion magazines highlight trend setting runway designs and beauty tips, this powerhouse editor, from Greenwich deals with the hard hitting issues that women face in this day and time. "We were the first women's magazine ever to write about the dangers of breast implants," Wells states. "We did the first story on models who were addicted to heroin." This revolutionary approach for a women's fashion magazine has sky rocketed Allure's circulation to award winning status from the advertising and publishing community. With an impressive career legacy which include (just to name a few) editorial assistant at Vogue, beauty editor for The New York Times Magazine, guest appearances on Oprah and "Entertainment Tonight" - her leading lady status is not at all surprising.

Our next leading lady of fashion has a reputation for being unique and groundbreaking in her knowledge of fashion, and her approach as editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar. The notable Glenda Bailey, who also served as the editor of Marie Claire's U.S. edition in 1996, after serving as the founding editor for eight years for the British Marie Claire in 1988, brought the magazine to such heights as to be awarded the status of Adweek's Top 10 Hottest Magazines four years in a row. Along with three Magazine Editor of the Year Awards, five time winner of Magazine of the Year, and Amnesty International Awards winner twice, Bailey earned a fashion design degree from Kingston University in England. Awards of this magnitude are indicative of the formidable influence that this leading lady of fashion exhibits.

The last, but certainly in no way least of our leading ladies of fashion is Fern Mallis, Senior VP of New York's IMG Fashion, one of the leading fashion event planners. She has earned this position due to her reputation by serving as Executive Director in 1993 on the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and as the organizational genius behind the first "Fashion Week" which was known as 7th on Sixth at that time. With her ability to coordinate eighty temperamental top designers with her pleasant and calm personality along with her ability to handle the paparazzi; such multi-million dollar events such as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York is in the capable hands of this high-powered fashion trend setter. Fashion Week in New York is a defining event in the fashion world, making this multi-million dollar extravaganza a feather in the cap of our phenomenal leading lady Fern Mallis.

My Favorite Blankie

By Duncan Gelby

As a child, we all had an object that we needed for security. For some that object might have been a favorite toy or a special blanket. Security objects are needed as a child to help us feel less stress. They offer a feeling of comfort when either mom or dad are not around, and they also just feel good when they are rubbed on your cheek. Security blankets are not abnormal connections that a child has to an object. They are a natural progression in the world of growing up that can prove to be a huge stressor all within itself.

Security blankets can also help a child learn to sleep better. So many times in the world that we live in today we do not get a good night's sleep. As adults, we may have continuous things that play on our mind that keep us from drifting off to dream land. Children, though, also have issues that may keep them from sleeping. Young children who have been accustomed to sleeping with mom and dad may need a substitute to help them make it through the night, and anyone who has ever been a parent knows that a child sleeping through the night is a godsend. Offering a security blanket may help ease the transition that a child must make from sleeping with their parents to sleeping on their own, so parents should make sure that the action of needing a blanket at night should not be looked upon as being useless.

So how do you find and introduce a good security blanket to your child? Well, you can purchase a small blanket from a local retailer or you can search for the perfect blanket suited to your child and their needs. For example, separation from a parent's bed usually happens in the toddler years. By this time, the toddler has formed some likes and dislikes of his or her own. Finding a special blanket can be as easy as looking on the internet. You may find a car blanket if your child is into cars and trucks or you may find a unique fairy blanket to help ease their mind. By attaching the notion of moving to a big girl or boy bed with a favorite movie or toy, then the child may not resist moving into his or her own bed.

An animal designed blankets can be found if you look hard enough. For a wonderful array of these types of blankets visit My Animal Blankets to find that perfect security blanket for your child's needs. Who knows? You may even find a great snuggle blanket here to keep you cozy also.

Get Your Locking Gas Cap

According to PhillyBurbs auto parts suppliers are rapidly selling out of locking gas caps, which were originally invented in the 1930s because of gas siphoning thefts during the Great Depression.

According to the article, "I've never seen anything like this before. These things were collecting dust," said Brian Drake, who works at Bridgeville Auto Parts. "We can't even get them from suppliers. We've placed a couple orders. We're still waiting for them."

Drivers are reporting their gas tanks have been siphoned, or that they want to prevent potential siphoning due to ever-rising gas prices. Some stores are having difficulty getting more units in stock.
